Objective

The Indigenous Skills and Education Training Services program funds courses necessary for employment (ie. First Aid, Food Safe, WHMIS, etc.), as well as academic or continuing education courses through a post-secondary institution. Additionally, the program has funding for work and winter clothing and gear.

Application forms for the ISETS program can be picked up in person from the Front Desk at the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre during working hours or filled out online below.

Intention

To help close the employment and earning gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people” with “a stronger focus on training for higher quality, better paying jobs rather than rapid re-employment” as well as assisting “clients to gain greater skills and find jobs that will support their long-term career success.

Target Group

Any person of Indigenous descent who is needing support in their employment or education journey. There is no age restrictions or other requirements to access this funding source.

This program is available for urban Aboriginal peoples who are not eligible for funding through a Yukon First Nation.

The ISETs program can be utilized to fund work gear that will assist you in gaining and maintaining employment
