Objective

The objective of the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre’s After School Tutoring Program is to work with Aboriginal high school students bridging the transition from elementary to high school, rural to urban schools and providing after school assistance for high school students with special emphasis on those students with learning differences.

Target Group

High School Students, Grades 8-12
Students who want a safe and quiet learning environment
Students who would like to increase their grades and have a successful academic year
Youth who are experiencing learning differences and require support services
A place to do homework with support systems

  • Support system available for students between their families, educators and the After School Tutoring Program

  • Workshops for youth, parents and educators
  • Studying tips for exams, tests and to improve grades
  • Tools to increase academic confidence
  • Snacks and beverages will be provided to boost energy to focus on learning
  • Based on the needs of the students, other services and activities can be available
